Aragorn's Analytics MCP allows your organization to securely access governed workforce analytics from supported AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Microsoft Copilot.

Once connected, your team can ask questions about your workforce data using natural language while Aragorn controls which analytics are available through your organization's configured Analytics Guardrails.

The analytics available to a user depend on the access configured for their Aragorn Analytics Group.

You will need:

Your Aragorn administrator can obtain the MCP URL from the applicable Analytics Group in Aragorn.

The MCP URL connects the AI assistant to the analytics available through that Aragorn configuration.

Before connecting Aragorn to an AI assistant, we recommend reviewing the Analytics Guardrail for the applicable group.

Analytics Guardrails determine which Measures, Metrics, and Dimensions members of the group can use when exploring analytics through Aragorn's Analytics MCP. This allows your organization to control the analytics exposed through connected AI assistants.
​

For example, an organization may allow an HR Business Partner group to access:

while keeping compensation-related calculations unavailable to that group.

Your existing Aragorn governance remains the source of truth for what analytics the MCP makes available.

We recommend that you:

Security recommendation: Do not configure Full Access unless everyone in that group must have access to all applicable current and future analytics. Aragorn displays an elevated-access warning when Full Access is selected.

For Claude Team or Enterprise, an organization Owner or Primary Owner should configure the connector.

After the connector is added to the organization, users can connect to and use the connector according to the organization's Claude configuration and permissions.

Sign in to your organization's Claude account and navigate to: Organization settings → Connectors
​

Select Add. Then hover over Custom, and select: Web. Claude will ask for the remote MCP server information.
​

Enter the MCP URL copied from Aragorn. Use a recognizable name if Claude asks you to name the connector.

Access governed workforce analytics from Aragorn, including approved workforce measures, metrics, and dimensions.

Select Add and follow any authentication or authorization prompts presented by Claude and Aragorn.

Once completed, Aragorn Analytics should appear as an available connector in your Claude organization. Claude's current remote MCP implementation connects to the MCP server from Anthropic's cloud infrastructure rather than directly from an employee's computer.

Once the organization owner has added the connector, users can:

For Team and Enterprise organizations, adding the connector at the organization level makes the connector available; users may still need to establish their individual connection depending on the authentication configuration.
​

Start a new conversation in Claude by selecting the + button near the chat input and open Connectors. Make sure Aragorn Analytics is enabled.
​

Custom MCP apps are currently supported through ChatGPT's app and developer-mode capabilities. For organizational deployments, your ChatGPT Workspace Admin or Owner should perform the initial setup and review the app before making it available to users. OpenAI currently provides full MCP support for ChatGPT Business and Enterprise/Edu workspaces. Enterprise and Edu administrators can additionally use role-based access controls to determine who can access a custom app.

As a ChatGPT Workspace Admin or Owner, open your workspace settings.

Depending on your ChatGPT plan and workspace configuration, developer access can also be controlled through workspace roles.

Select the authentication option required by your Aragorn connection and follow the authentication flow presented by ChatGPT. If authorization is requested, complete the Aragorn sign-in/authorization process before continuing.
​

Select: Scan Tools

ChatGPT will connect to the Aragorn MCP server and discover the capabilities exposed by the server. Wait for the scan to complete and then review the tools that ChatGPT discovers before proceeding. OpenAI specifically recommends reviewing the MCP server and its permissions before deploying a custom app to your workspace.

Select: Create

The Aragorn Analytics app will initially be available as a draft. Open a new ChatGPT conversation and select Aragorn Analytics from the available Apps/Tools. Next, test the connection with a few analytics prompts and verify that the results align with the access you configured in the corresponding Aragorn Analytics Guardrail.

Once testing is complete, return to: Workspace Settings → Apps → Drafts and locate Aragorn Analytics. Then, select Publish.

Review the permissions and available actions before publishing. For Enterprise/Edu environments, administrators can also configure which workspace groups can access the app and which actions are available before publishing. Once published, Aragorn Analytics will appear as a custom app available to authorized members of the workspace.

Microsoft supports MCP servers through Microsoft Copilot Studio. This allows an administrator or Copilot agent builder to add Aragorn Analytics as a tool available to a Copilot agent.

​Important: Microsoft has multiple Copilot products and administration experiences. The instructions below apply to connecting an MCP server through Microsoft Copilot Studio.

Before starting, make sure you have:

Sign in to Microsoft Copilot Studio and open the agent that should have access to Aragorn Analytics.

Navigate to the agent's: Tools and select: Add a tool. Afterwards, select: New tool → Model Context Protocol

Select the OAuth 2.0 authentication method for your Aragorn connection and complete the requested configuration before continuing

Select Create and complete any required connection or sign-in flow. After, select Add and configure. The Aragorn MCP server will be added as a tool for your Copilot agent.

Open the newly added Aragorn Analytics tool and review these tools before publishing your agent

Connecting an AI assistant to Aragorn does not mean that every analytic in Aragorn would automatically be available to every user.

Aragorn's Analytics Guardrails are designed to control which analytics a group can use through the Analytics MCP.

Administrators should carefully review:

before distributing an MCP connection.

We recommend granting each group only the analytics its members need rather than providing broad access and relying on users not to request sensitive information

One of the primary benefits of using Aragorn Analytics through MCP is that the AI assistant can work with analytics that have already been defined and governed in Aragorn.

For example, your organization may have an approved definition for:

The AI assistant can use the analytics exposed by Aragorn rather than requiring users to repeatedly describe how those calculations should be performed. This helps provide a more consistent analytics experience across Aragorn and the AI tools your organization already uses.

First confirm that:

This may be expected because the user's Aragorn Analytics Group might not have access to the requested Measure, Metric, or Dimension.

An Aragorn administrator should review: Analytics → Groups → [Group] → Analytics Guardrail and verify the appropriate access.

Do not broaden access unless the group should legitimately be able to use that analytic.

This usually means the connection itself is working.

Review the applicable group's Analytics Guardrail and confirm that the requested Measure, Metric, and Dimension are available to that group.
