How to bring in new fields into a source

This guide explains how to add new HRIS columns to an existing source in Aragorn AI after your HRIS schema has changed.

Why new fields require action

When you first configure a source, you grant Aragorn AI permission to read specific fields. Aragorn AI does not automatically import new HRIS columns without your approval.

Example: Your team adds number_of_children in Workday for a new daycare benefit. Aragorn AI will not read that column until you fetch and map it.

Bring in new fields

1. Confirm the field exists in your HRIS

Verify the new column is live and populated for at least some records.

2. Fetch latest fields

  1. Log in to your Aragorn AI account.

  2. Open Data Projects

  3. Select the project

  4. Click the source and open Source settings.

  5. Click Fetch latest fields.

3. Map the new field

  1. Open source mapping.

  2. Find the new source field (for example, first_name).

  3. In the search bar, type to find standardized field and data type and map.

  4. Save your mapping.

4. Sync data

Run Sync new updates to import values for the new field from your HRIS.

5. Verify in the final dataset

Open the project final dataset and confirm the new column has expected values.

If the field does not appear

  • Confirm the column exists and has data in your HRIS.

  • Confirm credentials still have read access to the new field.

  • Run Fetch latest fields again after HRIS changes propagate.
