What is a supplementary source?
A supplementary source is a For Enrichment Only data project with its own HRIS connection. It holds reference data you join to a main integration project.
Example: An all-employees project used to look up manager names when the main project only has manager_external_employee_id.
Supplementary sources do not feed integrations directly. They support enrichment on integration-bound projects.
Prerequisites
HRIS credentials for the system that holds the supplementary data
Access to create projects in Aragorn Integration Studio
Create a supplementary source
1. Create an enrichment-type project
Log in to your Aragorn AI account.
Click Data Projects in the left sidebar.
Open the For Enrichment Only tab.
Click Create Project and select For Enrichment Only.
2. Connect the HRIS source
Use the search bar to find your platform.
Click the system that holds the supplementary data.
Enter the required connection credentials.
Click Create data source.
3. Name the project
In the modal:
Enter a descriptive name (for example,
All Employee ProfilesorManager Directory).Add a brief description.
Click Create data source to save.
4. Map and sync the supplementary source
Click Begin mapping configuration.
Map HRIS fields to standardized fields.
Run a source sync so the project contains current data.
5. Use it in a main project
On your integration project:
Add an Enrichment step in the pipeline.
Select this supplementary project as the enrichment source.
Configure the link between datasets.
Important notes
A manager is still an employee—the supplementary project is often the same employee roster used elsewhere.
Enrichment reads standardized project data in Aragorn AI, not the HRIS directly during the join.
Keep the supplementary project synced so lookup values stay current.
