What is a Project in Aragorn AI?

In Aragorn, a project is like a container that holds your HR data from different sources. It acts as a central repository where integrations can pull employee data and send it to vendors. Instead of connecting integrations directly to HR systems (which may change over time), projects serve as a buffer, ensuring flexibility and consistency in managing your data sources.

For example, if your company switches from one HRIS (Human Resources Information System) to another or changes its employee data storage system, your integrations remain unaffected. Since integrations pull data from the project rather than directly from the source, you only need to swap the new source to your project, ensuring a seamless transition without disruptions.

Types of Projects in Aragorn

There are different types of projects that you can create in Aragorn, each serving a different purpose in data management and integration.

  1. “For Integration” projects

These are the main projects used for integrations.

They store HR related data collected from HR systems like Workday, UKG, ADP, or even CSV files uploaded via SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol).

An example would be a project containing all your employee records that need to be synced with payroll and benefits providers.

  2. “For enrichment only” projects

A project that cannot be a direct source of data for integrations, but instead serves as enrichment data for other integration projects. They cannot be used directly in integrations but instead act as supporting data.

Some examples of enrichment data include, cost center details, organization role assignments, or additional metadata about your employees.

Creating a Project in Aragorn

Selecting your project datasource: What is a Source?

A Source in Aragorn is the system where your employee data originates. It can be an HRIS (e.g., Workday, UKG, ADP), payroll provider, ATS, compliance system, or even a spreadsheet or server. Aragorn pulls data from these sources via APIs, file transfers (SFTP), SCIM, or manual uploads, ensuring your integrations always have up-to-date employee records.

Aragorn AI supports a wide range of data sources, including HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, BambooHR, UKG), payroll providers (e.g., ADP, Paylocity), identity management systems (e.g., Okta, Microsoft Entra ID), learning management systems (LMS), compliance tools, Email records, and custom SFTP connections.

For either option you select: "For Integrations" or "For Enrichment Only"

  1. Use the search bar to quickly browse the list of supported platforms displayed in the source selection screen.

  2. Click on the platform you want to connect.

  3. Provide the necessary credentials required to connect to the selected system.

  4. Click the enabled Create data source button.

  5. A modal will pop up. Enter a clear and descriptive name for your project (e.g., “Payroll Data” or “HR Employee Records”).

  6. Also provide a brief description explaining what the project contains to help others understand its purpose.

  7. Click the Create data source button to save and finalize your project.
